You Are Beautiful

This piece is installed on the exterior of Taft High School in the Norwood Park neighborhood of Chicago.

It began with a student asking their art teacher if there was a way to bring You Are Beautiful to their school. With the support of the teacher and principal, the project became real.

Each letter is scaled to the building itself, stretching across the facade and becoming part of the architecture. The message is seen by students every day, by the surrounding neighborhood, and by commuters traveling along I-90.

I’m always interested in work that starts from within a community. This one belongs to the students who asked for it, and to everyone who encounters it in their daily lives. More at You Are Beautiful.
