Fence Pieces
The Andersonville installations were the first time the You Are Beautiful message was attached directly to neighborhood fences. Installed throughout the Chicago neighborhood in 2015, the pieces bring the message into the everyday rhythm of sidewalks, streets, and schools.
What began as a community-supported effort quickly became a format that other communities would adopt. By mounting the words directly onto existing fences, the message becomes part of the landscape rather than a separate object.
Looking back, these early installations helped establish the fence format that has since become one of the most common ways communities bring the message into public space. More at You Are Beautiful.
